Deerheart

A highly illustrated story of magic and sisterhood from two legendary Irish children's book-makers. An original myth set in old Ireland: the heroicism of the legends of King Arthur combined with the female empowerment of Wicked. Eoin Colfer, author of the internationally bestselling Artemis Fowl series, and P.J. Lynch, fine artist and Kate Greenaway Medal-winning illustrator of The Christmas Miracle of Jonathan Toomey, have collaborated on another evocative fairy tale for middle grade readers. Three witches must protect a deep and ancient magic - whatever the cost. Three fairy shapeshifter witches guard the Creedon Stone, the source of all magic, which runs all the way from the middle of the forest to the centre of mother earth. The witches' changeling powers allow the eldest sister, Scrawb, to fight as a crow; the middle sister, Hackle, a wolf; and the youngest, Deerheart, a speckled red doe. When humans come to steal the magic for their own ends, young Deerheart must step up and discover the power within her... A tale of magic, valour and romance.
