Higher Education in India

The book discusses the implications of three perspectives of building educational institutions: Techno-economic, Humanistic and Systemic. It proposes that the challenge in Indian higher education system lies in building 'robust' institutions with leadership to develop capability to self-reform and self-regulate, a primary focus on creation and application of knowledge, nurturing talents of young students, faculty and staff. In order to improve quality of higher education would necessitate less of centralized policy and control so that public and private universities and affiliated colleges can productively use autonomy in curriculum design and its delivery supported by resources for faculty and institutional stakeholders.
