The Ocean Map

An engaging and informative book for young readers that inspires interaction with and care for our watery world through an unusual ocean-centred map projection. Written by Aimee Mook, Lloyd's Register Foundation Curator of Contemporary Maritime, The Ocean Map introduces the ideas behind map projections and the ways people have represented the world throughout history. Based on the Spilhaus projection, it invites readers to see the world from a new perspective. Through features on the Challenger Deep, the Suez Canal, the Great Pacific Garbage Patch and the Great Barrier Reef, readers are encouraged to understand how science and human activity take place in, on and around the ocean.
